Creo que es mi tema preferido del dúo británico, en este caso con la colaboración de la mítica Dusty Springfield cuyo aporte vocal es todo un lujo. La canción está compuesta por los propios chicos de la tienda de mascotas y Allee Willis.

Actually es el disco del que se extrae el tema y, si mal no recuerdo, lo tenía porque mi primo me lo grabó en una cinta de audio. Casete. Antes funcionaba así, vaya...

El álbum contiene varios hits como Rent, It´s a Sin o Heart y tiene un sonido y producción apabullantes. Les situó en lo más alto del panorama musical y fue un éxito en todo el mundo.

Este temazo incluido en el álbum Quadrophenia contiene todo lo que podía ofrecer el grupo The Who: épica, lirismo y rock. La voz de Roger Daltrey y los arreglos hacen brillar esta composición de Pete Townshed, guitarrista y principal compositor del grupo.

Quadrophenia fue la segunda ópera rock del grupo y fue todo un éxito de ventas. También tuvo muy buena acogida por parte de la crítica y se realizó una película que hoy día se considera un clásico.

Summertime Blues - Eddie Cochran

Pues hoy volvemos a hablar de otro de los pioneros de eso que luego se llamó rock´n roll y el que fue uno de los primeros guitar hero.   

Incluso en unos lejanos años 50 se nota la fuerza que ya tenía este tipo de música que, aunque algo rudimentaria, logró espolear a la juventud de la época comenzando un movimiento que no dejaría de crecer hasta nuestros días.

Eddie Cochran tuvo una carrera fugaz pues falleció con tan sólo 21 años y este hecho agrandó su estatus hasta convertirlo en un mito. Quizás se pueda encontrar un extraño y trágico paralelismo entre su fallecimiento y el de sus amigos Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens y The Big Bopper tan sólo un año antes de su muerte.

Apenas pudo saborear las mieles del éxito pero conviene remarcar el hecho de que tuvo más éxito en Reino Unido que en su América natal. Y no es ésta cuestión baladí teniendo en cuenta que buena parte de la evolución del rock´n roll se gestó en las islas británicas: The Beatles o The Who dan buena fe de ello. Estos últimos realizaron una potente versión del tema que nos ocupa en su disco Live at Leeds publicado en 1970.

Nuestro protagonista también tuvo un papel importante en la evolución de los sonidos de la guitarra eléctrica pues cacharreaba mucho con su Gretsch G6120 probando todo tipo de cuerdas y grosores y modificando las pastillas. También experimentaba con las incipientes técnicas de grabación; además tocaba varios instrumentos.

Homenajeando a los Rolling que el día de hoy tocan en Madrid. Este tema quizás no sea muy representativo del sonido de la banda, pero es uno de los que más me gustan. 

Tema melódico y muy sesentero fue un éxito en el año 1967 aunque fuera cara b del single Let's Spend the Night Together.
