El tema compuesto por la dupla Billy Steinberg y Tom Kelly, creadores de temas como Like a Virgin, True Colors o Eternal Flame, se ideó para que lo cantara Roy Orbison con la producción de Jeff Lyne.
La voz de Orbison lo dota de una belleza extraña, incluso algo oscura y melancólica. Sería interesante conocer los aportes de Jeff Lyne al tema.
Posteriormente Cyndi Lauper aportó su propia visión del tema, que mantiene la estructura y fraseo en la voz, pero tiene diferente instrumentación. Los arreglos son más modernos y, a mi juicio, geniales. También aporta su gran voz, está claro. Está producido por ella misma y Lennie Petze, otro gran productor.

Añado esta versión en directo y un poco más rockera que es una auténtica maravilla. Cada vez que oigo la parte previa al estribillo en la que canta una nota muy aguda se me pone la piel de gallina: minuto 3:00.
La banda es impresionante e incluye a una violinista que toca con un efecto de distorsión.
