Esta canción compuesta por Bobby Scott y Bob Russell fue grabada por The Hollies en 1969 y fue todo un éxito en buena parte del mundo. Neil Diamond hizo una versión en el año 1970 que también gozó de una buena acogida. 

Según leí hace tiempo la letra estaba inspirada en una foto de un niño que portaba a su hermano ya fallecido de vuelta a casa.

Según he vuelto a investigar no queda muy claro si es así o no, pero en cualquier caso el sentido metafórico de la canción es aplicable a otras muchas situaciones.
